The community garden on the roof top of the Contra Viento y Marea refugee community center is blossoming and will be ready with food and seeds for our seed bank soon.
Sometimes it feels pretty surreal to stand on the roof of Contra Viento y Marea crammed in between a liquor store and auto shop with non stop city noise and usually a line down the block of people waiting to be served food down below. And now there’s squash and tomato vines growing up the metal gate and murals covering all the walls ✨
It’s been a magical few months watching this place open and evolve, grow and provide a place for refugees and migrants to organize themselves after a long battle with the government over the siege of the warehouse.
